# Create a Role in Carbon Black Cloud

#### Step 1:&#x20;

* Log into the Carbon Black Cloud UI using your assigned credentials.
* Select **Settings** and then select **Roles**.\

#### Step 2:&#x20;

* Fill in the pop-up windows as shown below:

* Enable these permissions:
  * **Alerts**
    * [ ] **View Alerts**
    * [ ] **Notes and Tags**
    * [ ] **View Notifications**
  * **Appliances**
    * [ ] **View Appliance Details**
  * **Custom Detection**
    * [ ] **View Watchlist Feeds**
    * [ ] **View Watchlists**
  * **Device Control**
    * [ ] **View External Devices**
  * **Endpoint Management**
    * [ ] **View Devices and Sensor Groups**
  * **Live Response**
    * [ ] **View Live Response**
  * **Organization Settings**
    * [ ] **View Data Forwarders**
    * [ ] **View Org Information and Codes**
    * [ ] **View Users**

Verify that you have applied all of the proper permissions for each of the sections listed above. An improper permission set could prevent adequate collection for analysis.&#x20;

* Select **Save**.
